Butter is a yoga, pilates and barre studio in Newhaven, Phillip Island. We offer students a way to connect to their physical and mental self through regular movement in flow. Our classes range from challenging and dynamic to restorative and nurturing, but all of them are therapeutic for the body and mind.

Power Flow
Our power flow is a vinyasa-style yoga class that links breath and dynamic movement. Students are always welcome to modify the practice to suit their level, but they also have the opportunity here to challenge themselves, sweat and be playful. A regular practice will build strength, flexibility and mind-body connection. May include breathwork, meditation and yogic philosophy. Some yoga experience recommended. Warmed to ~25ºC.
Slow Flow
Our slow flow practice is just that - a slower approach to vinyasa yoga. We’ll spend a little more time in shapes, flow at a steadier pace and focus on our breath. This allows students to settle the mind and drop into their practice. A calmer approach, but still builds strength. Suitable for all levels, and great for those still familiarising themselves with the yoga practice. May include breathwork, meditation and yogic philosophy. Warmed to ~25ºC.
Yin
Our yin yoga classes involve long, passive holds (around 5 minutes or more) that target deep connective tissue and fascia so that we can relax, open and heal the body on a deeper level. We’ll focus on the breath and quieting the mind, and use lots of props to support a state of total relaxation. A restorative and nourishing practice that is the antidote to the stresses of modern life. A beautiful compliment to our other classes. Warmed to ~25ºC.
Pilates Flow
Our mat pilates class is a low-impact, full body workout, focussing on controlled movements, stability and alignment. We'll move fluidly from one exercise to the next as we target the core, arms legs and glutes. Props and layers will be offered for extra challenge. The perfect way to tone, stretch and breathe. Suitable for all levels. Warmed to ~25ºC, fans used for airflow.
Barre Flow
Our barre classes combine elements of ballet, pilates and yoga. In this dynamic and toning workout, we'll use the barre for support, sprinkle in props for extra challenge and build strength, flexibility and balance through fun, fluid movement. Suitable for all levels. No ballet experience required. Warmed to ~25ºC, fans used for airflow.
Yin + Myofascial Release
This class combines long, passive yoga holds with targeted self-massage techniques to deeply release tension and improve mobility. In the Yin portion, we'll hold poses for several minutes to target deep connective tissues, joints, and fascia, encouraging stillness and inner awareness. The myofascial release element uses props like therapy balls or blocks to apply gentle pressure to trigger points, helping to break up tight fascia, release tension and restore ease of movement. Warmed to ~25ºC.
Dance Club
A fun and relaxed dance class inspired by the fluidity of yoga, the creativity of contemporary dance and the dynamism of aerobics. Over 45 minutes, we'll warm up the body, move rhythmically and blend guided dance sequences for a full-body experience: expect to stretch, sweat, be playful and groove. All bodies and levels welcome. No dance experience needed.
