YIN, YOUR BODY + THE SEASONS

An exploration of your meridian pathways and the stories they tell

So, you love Yin yoga. On days you feel sluggish or stuck, it frees you. When life is busy and overwhelming, it regulates and grounds you. But have you ever wondered why?

Rooted in Taoist philosophy, Yin yoga draws on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), specifically the body's meridian pathways and the relationship between yin and yang. While these concepts are often touched on in class, we don't always get the opportunity to deeply explore what they mean and how they relate to our bodies. Some of you have expressed an interest in knowing more. So…

We are very excited to announce a new series that will kick off this summer with Butter facilitator Nadine Den Mulder: Yin, Your Body & The Seasons.

This a four-part series of seasonal Yin sessions will delve deeper into the meridians and TCM principles that underpin your practice. Drawing on the wisdom of the natural world, each practice will invite us to consider ourselves as part of nature, exploring how its rhythms and cycles are reflected in our own physical and emotional experiences.

Each class will focus on one or two meridian pathways, exploring their associated elements, organs and seasonal connections through Yin postures, breath and acupressure points. This is an opportunity to deepen your practice, but also to better understand, balance and heal your own body.

SERIES 01 – SUMMER | THE FIRE ELEMENT

In TCM, summer is associated with the fire element – a season of warmth, vitality, expansion and connection. Traditionally linked to the heart and small intestine, fire invites us to explore themes of joy, connection, expression and balance between activity and rest.

Join Nadine this summer and dive deeper into the powerful practice of yin.
